Danville
- The
town will hold it's first "Arts on the Green" event this
evening, a family affair with juggling, magic - making, clowns,
an 11-piece banjo band and free ice cream. The fun takes place from
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the town green in front of the Danville Library
at 400 Front St. and is free of charge. A second day on the green
is planned for the same time and place on Oct. 11. Arts commission
chairwoman Celeste Evans said the events were conceived by the arts
commission and the town to offer the community an enjoyable experience
that takes advantage of the town green. "We offer these two
events with the vision of expanding the series in the future, and
feauturing a wide variety of talent in the various arts that enrich
our community," Evans said.

John Muir Medical Center, but since the birth of her daughter five

East Bay hospitals. "Clowning is my vocation, my true blessing,"
Smilow said. Smilow, who is president of the East Bay Clown Club,
will bring five of her clowns with her. The East Bay Banjo Club
also is volunteering to provide entertainment. Eleven banjos, a
tuba and a washboard make up the band that punctiates its music

following the live entertainment. At "visioning" workshops
held earlier in the year, the town polled residents to see what
